Neuropathology addresses both, clinical diagnosis and the scientific investigation of disorders of the central nervous system, skeletal muscle and peripheral nerves. Its role as a bridge between clinic, research and teaching is realized at our university hospital in Erlangen in a special way. We cover the entire field of clinical diagnostics, including molecular diagnostic procedures, and provide our patients with the research focus epilepsy and muscle disorders with an internationally renown expertise.
The Institute of Neuropathology is a member in the European Reference Network EpiCare and hosts the European Epilepsy Brain Bank (EEBB) since 2006. In addition, we are a board member of the German Brain Tumor Reference Center.
