Welcome to the homepage of the Institute of Neuropathology!
Neuropathology is concerned with both clinical diagnosis and the investigation of disorders of the central nervous system, skeletal muscle and peripheral nerves. This role as a central bridge between clinic, research and teaching is realized at our university hospital in Erlangen in a special way. We cover the entire field of clinical diagnostics, including molecular diagnostic procedures, and provide our patients with the research focus epilepsy and muscle disorders with an internationally proven expertise.
The Institute of Neuropathology has been hosting the European Epilepsy Brain Bank (EEBB) since 2006. In addition, we are involved in the collegial body of the German Brain Tumor Reference Center. The leadership of research group FOR1228 (German Research Association) is the internationally visible expertise in the diagnosis and research of diseases of the skeletal musculature. We are supported in our scientific and medical work by a broad national and international network.
