                        <title>New approach to classify brain tumors</title>

                        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The scientific journal Nature <a href="https://www.nature.com/articles/nature26000" target="_blank" class="external-link-new-window" title="Öffnet externen Link in neuem Fenster" rel="noreferrer">published online</a> a new method to classify brain tumors. The methylation signature of more than 8000 brain tumor samples was analyzed by an international consortium led by the Univ. of Heidelberg Neuropathology team and German Cancer Research Center and involved also our colleagues from Erlangen UKER. “We are ready to apply this technique for our daily diagnostic routine”, tells Prof. Blümcke, director of the Neuropathology Institute at UKER. “Please do not hesitate to ask further questions”.</p>]]></content:encoded>

                        <title>Start of a new DFG-funded project related to protein aggregation myopathies</title>

                        <description>A joint project of Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Harald Herrman and Prof. Dr. med. Rolf Schröder, which recently recieved funding by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), started on February 1st, 2017. </description>
                        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The project entitled „Cellular mechanisms leading to desminopathy: Segregation, aggregation and proteostasis imbalance of desmin mutants in muscle cells and tissue“ aims to clarify the cellular mechanisms that are responsible for the specific sorting of wildtype versus mutant intermediate filament proteins in the context of human protein aggregate myopathies. and cardiomyopathies due to hetero- and homozygous desmin mutations. </p>]]></content:encoded>
